Getting from Adana airport to Erdemli — and how to book a transfer without being scammed

Three ways from Çukurova airport to Erdemli, roughly what a transfer costs, and the one rule that keeps you out of trouble: never pay a driver in advance.

Every result you get for this journey is a company selling you a transfer. That is fine — they are a real option — but it means nobody tells you the part that matters most, because it would cost them the sale: you do not have to pay anything up front, and you should not.

Here is the whole picture.

The distance

Çukurova International is the nearest airport, 103 km from Erdemli, roughly an hour and twenty minutes by car. That is the number to plan around: it is a proper drive, not a hop, and after a long flight it is worth having it arranged rather than improvised at arrivals.

Three ways to do it

A private transfer. The normal choice, and the only one that makes sense at two in the morning with luggage and children. The driver comes to the building itself — not to a meeting point, not to a car park down the road. A car from the airport runs in the region of 2,000 TL. Treat that as an order of magnitude rather than a quote — prices in Türkiye move quickly — but it tells you whether someone is quoting you something reasonable.

Bus, then a short taxi. It can be done on public transport: an intercity bus between Erdemli’s bus station and Adana, finished with a short taxi ride to the terminal. Our host has done this, in 2023, when there was no direct airport service. Routes and schedules change, so check locally before you count on it. Worth knowing that Erdemli’s bus station is 250 metres from our door, so the last leg is a walk.

A hire car. If you were going to rent a car for the week anyway — and on this coast you probably should — collecting it at the airport removes the transfer question entirely. Car hire in Erdemli itself is a normal local service at local prices, from a Renault Clio up to a BMW 3 Series, so compare before you book at the airport counter.

How to arrange a transfer locally

There is an active local network here, and drivers are easy to find. That is the good news. The rest of this section is the caution that goes with it, because informal markets attract people who are not drivers at all.

Never send money in advance. This is the whole thing. Real drivers here do not ask for it. You agree the trip, they turn up, you pay at the end. We have done this repeatedly and never once been let down.

The reason is economics, not honour. A driver who does airport runs lives on repeat trips and word of mouth: the guest who arrives happy books the return leg, comes back next summer, and passes the number to friends. Vanishing with a deposit destroys all of that for one small payment. So if someone asks you to pay before the trip, that is not a driver — that is the tell.

We learned this the hard way with something else. We once arranged a motorcycle rental with a man from a local chat, paid the deposit he asked for, and never heard from him again. He had moved the conversation into private messages first — which is where a scammer wants you, because the record can be deleted afterwards.

Before you agree, ask a few ordinary questions:

  • What car will it be?
  • How long have you been doing airport runs?
  • How long have you lived in Erdemli?

None of these are interrogation. A real person answers them easily and usually adds something you did not ask. Someone who deflects, answers in one word, or hurries you towards payment has told you what you needed to know.

If you found the driver in a local community, it is also perfectly normal to ask publicly whether anyone can vouch for them. People do, and the answers are honest.

The simplest version

Ask us. We use the same drivers ourselves, one of them regularly, and we would rather put you in touch with someone we have actually ridden with than have you sort it out alone at midnight.

That is not a service we charge for. It is just easier for everyone if the person who lives here makes the phone call.

While you are planning

The apartment is ten minutes on foot from the public beach, with free parking at the door if you do arrive in a hire car. Send your dates and we will confirm what is free — and if you want the transfer arranged, say so in the same message.

No account, no booking fee, no waiting for a platform to pass on the message.
